    InGround vs Above Ground Trampolines

BERG makes the same ranges three ways: on legs, set into the lawn with a low raised edge (InGround), or completely level with the grass (FlatGround). This is what changes between them.

    Height and access

The plainest difference is how far the mat is from the grass. A FlatGround is level with the lawn, so there is no step up and no ladder. An InGround has a low raised edge. An above ground trampoline stands on legs, so a safety net matters more.

Round FlatGround models are sold without a net. If you want a net on a sunken trampoline, look at the InGround models or the rectangular FlatGround models with a net.

    Cost

For the trampoline alone, BERG InGround models start at €339, FlatGround at €699 and above ground at €449. Delivery is free on all of them.

A sunken trampoline has a second cost: the groundwork. We do not install, so we cannot price it. An installer, landscaper or builder will look at the garden and quote. See what affects an installer's quote.

    Wind

A FlatGround sits at ground level, so it catches far less wind than a trampoline on legs. An InGround sits nearly as low. If your garden is exposed, that is a fair reason to choose a sunken trampoline. More in trampolines for a windy garden.

    Which should you choose?

Look at InGround or FlatGround if you:

    • Own the house and are happy to have a hole dug in the lawn
    • Have an exposed or windy garden
    • Want the trampoline low in the garden rather than up on legs

Look at above ground if you:

    • Are renting or may move house
    • Do not want any groundwork
    • Want to be able to move the trampoline around the garden

Send us photos of the garden through the free garden consultation and we will tell you which we would pick.
