Trampolining as exercise for children and adults

We are a trampoline shop, not doctors, so this page makes no medical claims. It is the plain case for having one in the garden.

    It gets children outside

The main benefit is the simplest one. A trampoline is something children go out to use without being asked. It is in the garden, it needs no setting up, and ten minutes on it before dinner is ten minutes outdoors and moving.

It is exercise that feels like play

Bouncing is active. Anyone who has spent a few minutes on a trampoline knows it gets you out of breath. Children do not think of it as exercise, which is the point: they do it because it is fun, and they keep doing it.

It also takes some balance and co-ordination to bounce, land and stay in the middle of the mat, and children get better at it with practice.

    Adults can use it too

A trampoline is not only for children, but check the maximum user weight for the model before an adult gets on. The Pro Bouncer FlatGround is BERG's top range and is rated for users up to 120kg.

    Sensible use

    • Supervise young children.
    • Follow the guidance in BERG's manual for your model.
    • If you or your child has a health condition or an injury, ask your doctor before using a trampoline.

Why a FlatGround helps it get used

A FlatGround trampoline sits completely level with the lawn. There is no step up and no ladder, so children walk straight on. A trampoline that is easy to get onto tends to get used more often.
